REGISTERING FOR COURSES AT SOUTHWEST – TRAVIS

Students may register at Southwest by using the Telephone Registration And Voice Information System (TRAVIS) or students may come to either of the main campuses or off-campus centers for assistance. Appointments are not necessary; however, there are special dates and times designated for registration.

TRAVIS allows students to register by telephone from any location at their own convenience. Students should read relevant sections of the Southwest catalog and consult an academic advisor to ensure that selected courses will fulfill degree requirements. Failure to do so can result in taking courses that do not fulfill degree requirements. Registering for courses without the necessary corequisites, prerequisites or approval can also result in course being purged.

The following procedures should be followed:

  1. Meet with an academic advisor to select a schedule of classes from this booklet.
  2. Be sure to accurately record call numbers. Select alternate sections/courses in case the section requested is unavailable.
  3. Call TRAVIS at (901) 333-4REG (4734) during designated periods of registration. TRAVIS will guide the user through the registration process.
  4. For registration information, press 2. To register, add, or drop classes, press 1.
  5. Select the appropriate term code.
  6. Listen closely to each cue and when requested, enter the student identification number and the Personal Identification Number.  TRAVIS will provide an opportunity to change the Personal Identification Number (PIN) to any six-digit number selected. Remember the new PIN, as it will be required to access your personal information.
  7. After entering the PIN, TRAVIS will spell the student’s last name to confirm identity. If the name is incorrect, students should contact the Admissions, Records and Recruitment Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  8. Select the correct registration service (i.e. drop/add, registration, etc.).
  9. Enter the call number for each course requested.
  10. To pay for courses via TRAVIS, select option 4 on the main menu for student account information and options 1 then 3 to make payment by credit card. VISA, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.
  11. Payments may also be made online on My.Southwest or mailed to:

Do not send cash payments though the mail. Payments may be brought to the Cashier’s Office at either main campus or to an off-campus center.

Call the office of Admissions, Records and Recruitment at (901) 333-5924 to report problems encountered using TRAVIS.

TRAVIS will automatically disconnect after a period of inactivity or when system use exceeds 15 minutes. TRAVIS is available daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.
