A+ Certification

A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months' experience) computer service technicians. The certification covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any particular vendor's products.

The A+ certification and exam structure has been updated to reflect both the changes in technology since the last exam update in 2003 and the unique requirements of evolving IT job roles. The new A+ exams place emphasis on areas such as security, safety, communication, professionalism and more.

The new A+ certification path consists of 2 exams. The first exam, Essentials (Exam 220-601), covers basic IT knowledge including OS Technologies and Hardware. The second exam consists of 3 possibilities:

Each new exam focuses on the skills and knowledge that map to specific job roles and environments. Candidates can now choose their preferred job role and then follow the certification path that will best prepare them for the tasks involved with their chosen skill set. For more information on A+ certification- go to http://certification.comptia.org/a/.  At this time our A+ class will prepare you for the Essentials exam and the IT Technician exam.
