Brenda is the associate director of Advertising and Media Relations for the College. She assists with promoting and publicizing Southwest through writing news releases, media advisories and feature stories and networking with both print and broadcast media. She is also the editor for The Southwest Scoop, Southwest's online newsletter.

Brenda earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Jackson State University in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. She launched a career in electronic media at which time she received two awards from the Mississippi Broadcaster's Association and one from National Public Radio. Upon relocation to Memphis, Brenda worked as director of Life Skills Education, a community outreach center at Girls Incorporated of Memphis. Her professional career also includes eight years of employment with Tennessee Technology Center at Memphis where she held several positions, most recently, coordinator of Public Relations.

She enjoys reading inspirational materials, journaling, and walking.
