Final Exam

After completing all units in any developmental mathematics courses, a COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM will be required. The score on this exam will be calculated as a portion of your final grade. The individual instructor will determine how your final grade is calculated.

Course Pacing

The instructor is responsible for pacing the entire class in order that the required course content is covered. Examinations will be scheduled and administered to the entire class during regular class meeting times. The Final Exam for Basic Mathematics will be administered during the scheduled final exam period. Be sure to note your instructor’s pacing guidelines and his/her policies on make-ups.

Grading Policy

Your instructor determines the grading policy in your class. Your letter grade will be based on the following scale.

Letter Grade Numerical Grade
A - Superior 90-100 %
B - Excellent  80-89 %
C - Average  70-79 %
N - In progress  60-69 %
F - Failure Below 60 %
W - Withdrawal  Must submit official form
I- Incomplete   Must see instructor to complete

One unsuccessful attempt of this course can be grounds for probation. Two unsuccessful attempts of this course can be grounds for suspension.

Attendance Policy

The Tennessee Board of Regents requires mandatory attendance for all students in developmental classes. The following rules apply.

(1) A student may fail a developmental class, regardless of prior course grades, after missing the equivalent of
two weeks of class. Failing a course may adversely affect VA benefits, financial aid, insurance benefits,
     dependency status, scholarship eligibility, etc.
(2) Individual instructors determine specific make-up policies. Students absent from a developmental class might
be allowed to make up missed tests, writing assignments, or other graded work. Missed work will adversely
     affect final course grades.
