Course Description This course covers the fundamentals of intermediate algebra: rational expressions, solving inequalities, absolute value equations, quadratic equations, graphing linear equations, inequalities and quadratic equations, systems of equations, relations and functions and exponential and logarithmic functions. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Elementary Algebra or demonstrated proficiency on the placement test. Text and Materials Text: College Mathematics

Wesley Longman, 2000. General Student Outcomes In the successful completion
of this course, the student will: Final Exam After completing all units in any developmental mathematics courses, a COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM will be required. The score on this exam will be calculated as a portion of your final grade. The individual instructor will determine how your final grade is calculated. Course Pacing
The instructor is responsible for pacing the entire class in order that
the required course content is covered. Examinations will be scheduled and
administered to the entire class during regular class meeting times. The
Final Exam for Intermediate Algebra will be administered during the
scheduled final exam period. Be sure to note your instructor’s pacing
guidelines and his/her policies on make-ups. Grading Policy Your instructor determines the grading policy in your class. Your letter grade will be based on the following scale.
Attendance Policy The Tennessee Board of Regents requires mandatory attendance for all students in developmental classes. The following rules apply. (1) A student may fail a
developmental class, regardless of prior course grades, after missing the
equivalent of ADA Statement Southwest Tennessee Community
College is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all
qualified individuals with disabilities. It is the responsibility of the
student to contact the Counseling, Advising and Articulation Center to
arrange for appropriate accommodations. When the disability has been
documented and verified, a counselor will contact the faculty member
regarding any special accommodations to be provided. No student will be allowed
to attend class until his/her name is on the official class roll or he/she
has proper documentation from the Records Office.
