Greg Akers is a film critic for the Memphis Flyer, editor of the Flyer "Living Spaces" condo and home guide, editor of Memphis Custom Publishing and the magazine Memphis Business Quarterly, and a monthly contributor to Memphis magazine. (Don't tell his boss, but he would work for free.)
Akers grew up in Collierville and graduated from Collierville High School in 1994. He earned an Associate in Arts degree from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina, and, while at Arkansas State University, was the film critic for the school newspaper, The Herald.
Akers began working at Contemporary Media — parent company of the Memphis Flyer — in December 2005, and, in summer 2007, he accepted the position of editor of MBQ and Contemporary Media's special publications department.
When he's off the clock, he and his wife enjoy their daughter's terribly precious twos. Akers' second favorite movie of all time is Aliens.
Please join the Honors Academy and give your mind a wholesome lunch!
