Saluqis Have Road Date at Hiwassee on Saturday 

Both the men's and women's basketball squads at Southwest Tennessee Community College will travel to Madisonville, Tennessee, Saturday, January 6, for games with Hiwassee Community College. The Lady Saluqis (8-5) will play at 2:00 p.m. followed by the men (8-3) at 4:00 p.m.

Coach Andrea Martre and her hustling women's team will host Bethel College of McKenzie, Tennessee, at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, in the Verties Sails Gymnasium, Union and Manassas. The Lady Saluqis are being led in scoring by hot-shooting guard Nikkia Jones, who is averaging 22 points per game.

Coach Verties Sails and the STCC men's basketball team started 2001 off on an impressive note by defeating the University of Northern British

Columbia 102-88 on New Year's day. The Saluqis played their best game of the season against the visiting Canadians. Marlon Walls is the top scorer with a 20.5 average. Lou Wright has a 15.4 points per game average, and Wayne Moody is averaging 10.7 points per game.
