STCC Local Site for National
Teleconference;
Restorative Justice
Southwest Tennessee Community College is the local
host institution for a nationwide teleconference, Restorative Justice:
Repairing Harm, Reducing Risk and Building Communities, which will air
from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 28, in Farris Auditorium at the
Macon Cove Campus, 5983 Macon Cove. This national satellite broadcast is
sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
It is free and open to the public.
Patsy Anderson, director of STCC's Gill Center in
Frayser, is site coordinator for the teleconference. She said the
broadcast is designed to: (1) Highlight key principles of the Balanced
and Restorative Justice model. (2) Discuss strategies for successful
implementation, and (3) Provide information about individuals and
jurisdictions working to advance Balanced and Restorative Justice.
Anderson advised that attendees to the
teleconference should arrive approximately 15 minutes before the
broadcast begins. Participants will receive a packet of resource
materials and be given instructions on how to respond to certain
segments of the session.
A highlight of the teleconference will be an
interactive question-and-answer segment with the broadcast presenters
and panelists. At the conclusion of the broadcast, the site coordinator
will lead a discussion on what solutions and ideas were offered to
address the issue locally.
