901/333-STCC * www.southwest.tn.edu DATE: May 16, 2001 STCC Set to Hear Finalists for Top Post The three finalists who are vying to be the first permanent president of Southwest Tennessee Community College, will visit the College's two main campuses for interviews Wednesday, May 30, through Friday, June 1. The finalists are: Dr. Jack E. Daniels III, President, Central Community College in Houston, Texas; Dr. Nathan Essex, Interim President, STCC; and Dr. Karin K. Pettit, President, Lenoir Community College in Kingston, North Carolina. Dr. Daniels will visit STCC May 30-31. He will have dinner with Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Charles Manning at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29. The remainder of his itinerary is as follows: May 30 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Meet with professional/support staff, faculty, and students at both campuses. At 5:00 p.m., Dr. Daniels will attend a reception given for the Tennessee State Legislators, Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce, STCC Foundation Board, and the STCC Alumni Association. May 31 8:00 a.m. Tour of STCC Centers; 10:00 a.m. Meet with Search Committee. Dr. Essex's meetings are scheduled for May 31-June 1. He will have dinner with Chancellor Manning at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30. May 31 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Meet with professional/support staff, faculty, and students at both campuses. At 5:00 p.m., Dr. Essex will attend a reception given for the Tennessee State Legislators, Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce, STCC Foundation Board, and the STCC Alumni Association. June 1 8:00 a.m. Breakfast with senior staff/deans, and at 9:00 a.m. he will tour the STCC Centers. Dr. Pettit will also make her official visit on May 31-June 1. May 31 1:30 p.m. Meet with Search Committee; 3:00 p.m. Tour of STCC Centers; 6:00 p.m. Dinner with Chancellor Manning. June 1 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Meet with professional/support staff, faculty, and students at both campuses. Southwest Tennessee Community College was
founded July 1, 2000. It is the largest community college in the Tennessee
Board of Regents system. The College offers Associate of Arts and
Associate of Science degrees for transfer to four-year colleges and
universities, Associate of Applied Science degrees for immediate career
entry, and Technical and Academic certificates to prepare individuals for
entry-level positions in the marketplace.
