STCC To Refund Fees for Military Deployment;
President George W. Bush has initiated the process of activating military personnel for duty, as a direct result of terrorist attacks on America Tuesday, September 11. In support of this action and a ruling by Chancellor Charles Manning of the Tennessee Board of Regents, Southwest Tennessee Community College will grant a full refund of all fees to military reservists who are called to active duty status. Documentation of deployment will be required for students requesting the refund.
STCC's Millington Center is located at the Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Building 241, Room 125. There are more than 400 students enrolled at the Millington campus, including over 130 individuals who are either regular military personnel or reservists. As of today, more than 20 students had been advised of their active duty status.
Southwest Tennessee Community College is the largest community college in the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The College has two main campuses Macon Cove, 5983 Macon Cove, and Union Avenue, 737 Union Avenue. In addition to the Millington Center, STCC is located at the following off campus sites: Elbert T. Gill Center in Frayser, 3833 Mountain Terrace; Fayette County Teaching Site, Fayette-Ware High School, 13520 Highway 59 West, Somerville, TN; Fayette County Career Center, 121 Town Square, Somerville, TN; Mid-South Quality Productivity Center, 22 N. Front Street; Southeast Center, 5396 Mendenhall Square Mall; Whitehaven Center, 3035 Directors Row, Building 6; and the Workforce Development and Training Center, 3523 Lamar Avenue.
