Board of Regents, Geier Committee to Meet July 15;
Board Meeting will Focus on Setting Institution Budgets, Tuition

Nashville, Tennessee, July 8, 2002 - The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) will meet in special session at 12:30 p.m. CDT on Monday, July 15, at the TBR central office. The agenda includes approval of FY 2002-2003 institution budgets and tuition charges. The meeting will be held in the Training Center, Room 204. The meeting is open to the public and the press as observers. At this point, no decision has been made as to conference call availability for the meeting; an advisory on that will be issued Tuesday, July 9.

At 11:00 a.m. CDT on Monday, July 15, the TBR Geier Oversight Committee will meet in the chancellor’s conference room at the TBR central office. The only item on the agenda is the Tennessee State University administrative enhancement study recently completed by the consulting firm of Bell and Trice. This meeting is also open to the public and the press as observers.

The Tennessee Board of Regents is the nation’s sixth largest higher education system, governing 45 post-secondary educational institutions. The TBR system includes six universities, 13 two-year colleges and 26 technology centers, providing programs to over 180,000 students in 90 of Tennessee’s 95 counties.
