FedEx Executive to Give Special Address at Southwest
Burnetta Williams, Vice President of Finance and Assistant Treasurer at
Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), will speak at Southwest Tennessee
Community College (Southwest) Wednesday, March 27. Williams will give the
keynote address for, American Women Sustaining the Spirit in honor of
Women's History Month. The program is set for 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., on
the Macon Cove Campus, 5983 Macon Cove, in the Farris Building, Rooms A&B.
The event is free and open to the public.
American Women Sustaining the Spirit is sponsored by graduates of the
Professional Re-entry Education Program (PREP). This creative program is
designed to serve single parents and displaced homemakers who have the
potential to succeed in a post-secondary institution, but may lack the
initial financial resources to get started or the motivation to enroll .
Williams has been an employee at FedEx since 1982. Her current
responsibilities include assisting the treasurer in the management of
corporate finance activities for the holding company and the independent
operating companies. A native Memphian, Williams earned a bachelor's
degree in mathematics from Yale University and a master's degree in
finance from the Sloan School at M.I.T. She currently serves on the board
of directors for the Memphis Arts Council and the Riverfront Development
Corporation.
