STUDENTS PRODUCE CD TO RAISE AWARENESS OF MUSIC PROGRAM
A top on the wish list of many Southwest music students
is a real, bona fide recording studio. Funds not being available, 11
members of the Southwest Choir decided to show what they could do with
makeshift facilities to spearhead an effort to get funds for a "class A"
studio.
They selected five songs, music they grew up with, and, using the old TV
studio at the Union Avenue Campus, with sound equipment belonging to their
director, Dr. Charles Pender, they cut their first CD.
Without funds to pay royalties, they have a CD they can't sell – so they
are giving it away. In addition to sending it to some of the College's
regular supporters, they are offering a free download, hoping to inspire
community support for their project.
Songs on the CD are You Are the Sunshine of My Life, September, I Just
Called to Say I Love You, Sing A Song and Fantasy. To download, visit our
