BRYANT SIGNS WITH MID-CONTINENT
Written by Keith Gentry
Heather Bryant, a sophomore infielder on the Southwest softball team,
has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and softball
career at Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Kentucky.
“I’m very happy for Heather and the opportunity she is getting at
Mid-Continent. She is a very hard worker both on the field and in the
classroom,” said Southwest head coach Keith Gentry. “Mid-Continent is
not only getting a good softball player but a quality person as well.”
Bryant, who is in her second season with the Lady Saluqis, came to
Southwest from Brighton High School in Brighton, Tennessee. A two-year
starter at third base and shortstop for Southwest, Bryant is currently
batting .277 and leads the team in doubles with five. In the Lady
Saluqis’ win over Coahoma Community College on Tuesday, Bryant hit a
grand slam home run, her first round-tripper of the season and the
second of her career. As a freshman, Bryant batted .276 with one home
run, nine doubles, and nine runs batted in. In addition to her exploits
on the field, Bryant is an excellent student and a member of the Lady
Saluqis’ 3.0 GPA club.
