Release written by: Kimberly Stark

Southwest will host three “One Stop Preview Days” in July and August. These days will allow students to take early steps to apply and register for classes at Southwest. “The participants of the preview days will be able to apply, seek financial aid, test if necessary, be advised, register and pay tuition,” states Vanessa Dowdy, associate director of Admissions, Records and Recruitment.

On July 20, the College will host a preview days for students transferring to Southwest from other institutions. The day will begin at 9 a.m. and go until Noon and be held at both main campuses. On July 27, events will be held for the non-traditional students from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on both main campuses. On August 3, Southwest will host a day for traditional college students from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at both main campuses. During the August 3 event, local radio stations will be hosting live radio remotes from both main campuses during the day. On each day, events at the Macon Cove Campus will begin in Farris Auditorium and continue throughout the campus. On the Union Avenue Campus, events will begin in the M Building Auditorium and continue throughout the campus.

During each event, participants will be given a check list of items that need to be accomplished while on campus that day. “The students will be welcomed once they arrive on campus,” states Dowdy. “A brief overview of the activities for the day will be given to participants before they start on their journey.”

This journey can lead students to an elevated life with a career in the field of their choice.
