SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM SWEPT BY COLUMBIA AND VOL
The Southwest softball team traveled to the mid-state area over the
weekend to open conference play against two of the top teams in the
Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association and were
defeated in all four games. The losses dropped the Lady Saluqis overall
record to 6-14 on the season.
On Saturday night, Southwest was defeated by Columbia State 13-0 and
8-0. The Lady Saluqis were handcuffed all night by the pitching of
Columbia State, reaching base only three times all night by base hits.
On Sunday afternoon, Southwest was defeated by Volunteer State by scores
of 8-0 in both games.
The Lady Saluqis return to action on Tuesday, March 22 against Coahoma
Community College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at the Appling Complex.
Southwest will travel to Jackson, Tennessee on Wednesday, March 23 to
take on conference foe Jackson State in a 2 p.m. twin-bill. This
weekend, March 25-26, the Lady Saluqis will compete in the Tiger Fest
Tournament, hosted by Northeast Mississippi Community College in
Booneville, Mississippi.
