Four Southwest baseball players have been selected by the Tennessee
Baseball Coaches Association as members of the Tennessee Baseball
Report’s All-TJCCAA Team.
Brit Vincent, a sophomore leftfielder from Bowling Green, Kentucky, was
the only Southwest player named to the first team. Vincent led the team
with a .391 batting average, 207 at-bats, 81 hits, and 116 total bases,
and was second on the team with 18 doubles and 45 runs batted in. He was
also named to the Tennessee Baseball Report’s Super Sophomore Team.
Second team selections were designated hitter Brendan Murphy and
pitchers Shane Jackson and Ivan Nails. Murphy, who prepped at Grace
Academy in Chattanooga. Murphy batted.372 this spring with 68 hits, 16
doubles, six home runs, 51 RBI, 112 total bases, and led the conference
with five triples. Jackson, a graduate of Bolton High School, led the
Saluqis’ pitching staff with eight wins, a 3.84 ERA, 14 games started
and 60 strikeouts. In addition, he set a new Southwest record with 96
innings pitched. Nails, a freshman from Horn Lake, Mississippi, compiled
a 2-2 record with a 4.28 ERA and led the Saluqis with 20 appearances and
six saves.
A fifth Saluqi player, freshman utility player Jeremy Finney, was named
to the Fantastic Freshman Team. Finney, who came to Southwest from
Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, batted .337 this spring with
seven doubles, three triples, two home runs, 35 RBI, and a team-leading
20 stolen bases.
