SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES TWO GAMES IN COLUMBIA TOURNEY

The Southwest softball team traveled to Columbia, Tennessee last Friday
to compete in the Columbia State Fall Softball Tournament, losing 13-0
to Bevill State-Sumiton (AL) and 3-2 to Bethel College. The losses
dropped the Lady Saluqis record this fall to 3-5.
The top hitter of the day for Southwest was sophomore first baseman,
Jennifer Davenport, who had base hits in each game. Other Lady Saluqis
who had hits were sophomores, Erica Brich and Allison Mullins and
freshmen, Carrie Byram, Gina High, Caryn Hubbard and Tonesha Webb. Byram
also stole a base and scored a run against Bethel, while Mullins drove
in freshman, Anna Carter with the Lady Saluqis other run.
Southwest returns to action this weekend when the Lady Saluqis travel to
Dyersburg, Tennessee for the Eagle Play Day. On Friday, September 23,
Southwest will play Freed Hardeman University at 5 p.m. followed by
Cumberland University at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Saluqis will play three
games on Saturday, September 24 Union University at 1 p.m.,
Mid-Continent University at 4 p.m., and Southeastern Illinois College at
7 p.m.
