Southwest Tennessee Community College Hosts Dual Enrollment Meetings
Written by Brenda J. Rayner
Local high school students can get a jump start on college courses by
participating in the Dual Enrollment program, a collaboration between
Southwest and Memphis City Schools, Shelby County Schools, Fayette
County Schools, Memphis-Area Home School Association, and local private
schools.
Southwest will be hosting two Dual Enrollment meetings for the public on
Thursday, April 27 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 9
a.m.-11 a.m. The meetings will be held at the Southwest Macon Cove
Campus, 5983 Macon Cove in the Farris Auditorium. To participate in the
program a student must be enrolled for college courses leading towards a
degree for which they also earn high school credit. College courses
taken under the restrictions of this grant will not be applied toward
the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship College GPA and the attempted credit
hours limitation.
Eleventh and twelfth grade students eligible to participate in the
Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant program may receive up to $600 per award
year ($300 per semester). For more information about the workshop and to
register please call (901) 333-4046 or email
flee@southwest.tn.edu .
