SOUTHWEST TO CELEBRATE HONORS WEEK APRIL 18-24

Southwest has planned a full slate of activities observing Honors Week April 18- 24. Clarence Christian, associate professor of Social Science and director of the Southwest Honors Program said the week is “designed to recognize and award student achievement in academics, community service, leadership and creative performance.”

The week will include service activities, such as Walk America and March of Dimes solicitations; exhibits of long-term Honors Program final projects; a report on “Spring Break in New Orleans,” Southwest’s participation with colleges across the country to help clean up/fix up Katrina damage; service learning and observance of National Collegiate Honors Council Student Service Day.
The crowning event will be the annual Honors Convocation, recognizing achievements of individual students, and groups and organizations for their academic, creative and service contributions to both the college and the community.
