LADY SALUQIS STAY AT NINTH IN NJCAA RANKINGS
The Southwest women’s basketball team remained at the number nine spot in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 Poll. The Lady Saluqis are currently 8-0 on the season including 5-0 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association. Southwest returns to the court this Saturday with a road game against Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. Hiwassee also enters the game undefeated with a 7-0 record.
Leading the way for the Lady Saluqis are sophomores Candace Rucker, Keona Brooks, and Starkitsha Luellen. Rucker ranks in the top five nationally in scoring (21.5) and steals (4.6). Luellen is the second leading scorer at 11.9 points per game and is ranked in the top ten nationally with a 10.8 rebounding average while Brooks adds 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
