For Immediate Release The Southwest Men's Basketball Team, winners of 20 consecutive games, moved up two spots to number four in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 Poll. The Saluqis are now 21-1 on the season including 12-0 in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association. Southwest features a balanced scoring attack with five players averaging in double figures. Sophomore Jeremy Williams leads the team with a 15.7 scoring average followed by fellow sophomores Reginald Owens (14.6), Myron Strong (14.4), DeAngelo Riley (12.1), and James Justice (10.6). Riley also leads the team in rebounding (8.3) and blocked shots (3.1). As a team, the Saluqis rank sixth in the NJCAA with a team scoring average of 98.3 points per game and also rank 13th in team field goal percentage at 50.1 percent. Southwest will travel to Gallatin, Tennessee on February 25 to play Volunteer State in its final regular season game. The Saluqis will receive a first round bye in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament which will be held March 3-8 in Cleveland, Tennessee. ### |
