Southwest Tennessee Community College Receives Grant for Homeland Security Career Exploration

Southwest Tennessee Community College was awarded a Leadership Bridge Program Grant for $250,000 from the Department of Homeland Security to assist students in exploring career options in homeland security. The objective of the program is to engage the students and faculty in hands-on training and activities related to both their chosen career paths, as well as the field of homeland security. The program, open to underrepresented students in good standing from all academic disciplines, is designed to:

Students will be required to participate in organized monthly activities designed to provide exposure to real world utilization of their academic disciplines in regard to homeland security. Stipends will be provided to assist with expenses associated with the activities, which include but are not limited to:

The Leadership Bridge Program is accepting applications from dual enrollment students (high school students concurrently taking course at Southwest) and regular Southwest students in good academic standing. The program is particularly beneficial for second-year students at Southwest in pursuit of four-year college or university degrees.
