Randall Kenan, author of A Visitation of Spirits and Let the Dead Bury Their Dead (among The New York Times Notable Books of 1992), will be presenting at Southwest Tennessee Community College's Macon Cove Campus on November 8 at 3 p.m.
Of African-American decent, Kenan was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent his childhood in Chinquapin, North Carolina. He was, among numerous other achievements, the John and Renee Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi, Oxford (1997-98) and a visiting professor of creative writing at The University of Memphis. Governor Michael Easley presented him with the North Carolina Award for Literature in 2005, and in March 2007, he was inducted into the Fellowship of Southern Writers.
Kenan will present at the Macon Cove Campus Bornblum Library Auditorium. This event is free and open to the general public.
