The College provides financial assistance to students through three basic sources: grants, employment, and scholarships. Most of these funds come from programs sponsored by the federal and state governments. In order to be entitled to receive federal and/or state student assistance benefits, a student must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be admitted as a degree-seeking student in the course of study he or she has selected.

All students are encouraged to apply for aid if they feel they have the need. To determine if there is need for assistance; Southwest Tennessee Community College uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov), which takes into consideration the factors that affect a family’s financial status. In addition to the FASFA, students may also apply online for scholarships offered by the College and the Foundation.
