Southwest's Millington Center serves the northern communities of Shelby County, including the military and civilians onboard Naval Support Activity (NSA) Mid-South. Southwest has served the community and military by offering classes and administrative services on base in Navy College for over three decades.

To improve access for the community, Southwest's Millington Center has opened an office and classrooms at a second location, off base in the University of Memphis, Willis Hall facility. This location is less than a mile east of the base on Navy Road, behind the former Navy Hospital.

Southwest is a member of the Service Members Opportunity Colleges (SOC). The Millington Center Director is the SOC representative and counselor for Southwest.

History
State Technical Institute at Memphis first offered two business courses at the Millington Navy base in 1972. Shelby State Community College followed shortly thereafter. In July, 2001, both institutions, each a Tennessee Board of Regents institution, were consolidated to create Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Degrees Offered
All courses required for the completion of the A.A.S. Mid-Management program are offered at the Millington Center.

In addition to the degree program, English, mathematics, social science, and other general education and developmental courses are offered at the center.

Financial Aid
Please see the Financial Aid Office's website or visit one of  the main campuses.

Note: SPECIAL CONDITIONS for base access to take classes at Millington Center, Navy College facility. Classes at Navy College are identified with room numbers beginning MILN (MILN 131, for example). Special access is NOT required for classes held in Willis Hall, the new University of Memphis facility located about 1 mile east of the base on Navy Road.
