Paralegal
Studies
Internship
In the internship course, LEGL
2045, paralegal studies students are placed in a legal environment,
such as a law firm, a corporation, or a government office. The basic
requirements for the internship are:
- The student must work 60 hours during
the semester to receive three (3) credit hours for the course.
- The student must keep a daily log of his
hours and the paralegal assignments he is given to complete. We ask
the supervising attorney to initial the log periodically.
- At the end of the internship, we request
the supervising attorney to complete an evaluation form which is used
in calculating the student's final grade. The evaluation form is
furnished by the college.
- At the convenience of the supervisor, an on-site visit is conducted by the program director or
other faculty member.
- There is no requirement that the intern
students be paid for their 60 hours of work. The purpose of the
internship is to gain "hands-on" experience in the paralegal
field.
Note: Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public except as permitted by law.
