Book Allowance

A book allowance is an advancement charged against your financial aid refund that allows you to purchase books and other supplies. The book allowance amount will be deducted from your excess financial aid. For additional information view the Frequently Asked Questions.

The book allowance is advanced through Southwest funds not Federal Grant funds. By accepting a book allowance, the student agrees to be responsible for the full repayment of the book allowance, when a change in enrollment status results in a financial aid adjustment (i.e. changes in enrollment due to class cancellation by College, withdrawal from Southwest, cancellation/termination of aid by Financial Aid Office, etc.).

Book allowances will be posted to the Southwest Refund Card [Comdata Debit Card] or be available by paper check. If posted to a card call 888-265-8228 to verify that your book allowance has electronically posted to your card.

Date Schedule

Please see the information below to determine the best time and location to pick up your Southwest Refund Card [Comdata Debit Card] and/or paper check. The Southwest Refund Card [Comdata Debit Card] and/or paper check must be picked up by the student to whom it is issued and a picture ID must be shown.

*After 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, checks will be available for pick-up in the Cashier's Office on the Union Avenue Campus until 6:30 p.m.

Note: Starting Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 13, all checks will be available for pickup each week at the Cashier's Office on the Macon Cove or Union Avenue campus. Please see the information below for the specific campus/day.
