Brooks and Waldon Sign Basketball Scholarships With Four-Year Universities

Southwest sophomore basketball players Rasheed Brooks and Lavontae Waldon have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and basketball careers at NCAA Division 1 universities.

Brooks, a 6'6" guard from Mansfield, Ohio, signed with the University of Mississippi. He is the Saluqis' leading scorer this season with a 16.2 average, and is also among team leaders with 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game. As a freshman last season, Brooks averaged 12.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, and helped lead Southwest to a 23-4 record, and a number 11 ranking in the NJCAA.

Waldon, a 6'6" forward from Oakhaven High School in Memphis, signed with Alabama State University. Waldon is averaging 7.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game this season and ranks among national leaders with a 73.1 field goal percentage. He averaged 5.0 points and 2.3 rebounds and shot 67.0 percent from the field as a freshman.
