Veterans Affairs (VA)

Application Procedures

  1. Complete all requirements as outlined by Admissions and Records, to include the Student Application for Admission application, fee(s) payment, transcript(s), and testing.
  2. Contact the Veterans Coordinator located in the Veterans Affairs office at the Macon Cove or Union Avenue Campuses.
  3. Submit all required documents as indicated in the Category information to the VA Coordinator.

It is very important that all students complete the Veterans Request for Certification each semester that VA educational benefits are requested. Students requesting a VA tuition deferment should complete a "Hold Agreement" each semester.

Students may verify their monthly enrollment with VA by visting the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) or by calling 1-877-823-2378.

New VA Educational Recipients

Individuals who have never used VA educational benefits.

Chapters 30 (MGIB), 1606 (MGIB-SR), and 1607 (REAP)- Active Duty, Prior Active Duty, Reservist/Guardsmen

Individuals who have used VA educational benefits at Southwest during previous semesters.

Transfer VA Educational Recipients

Individuals who have used VA education benefits at another college/university prior to Southwest.

Chapter 35 -Dependents

Transient Students

Individuals who are enrolled in courses that will be transferred to their primary institution for degree completion.

Vocational Rehabilitation (Voc Rehab)

Note: Book vouchers are issued through the Cashier's Office.
