Bookstores In The World Of Open

Often in higher education, we hear that open education resource providers and college bookstores simply do not get along because of a perceived conflict of interest. Learn from one institution about the process it underwent to engage and collaborate with its bookstore to provide students with affordable, accessible open materials. The benefits and challenges of this collaboration will also be shared. In addition, we will discuss findings from a DOERS3 survey and subsequent conversations with key constituent groups on enhancing the relationship between institutions and their bookstores.

Open Pedagogy has emerged as a highly effective teaching and learning practice in the 21st-century community college classroom. But with ever-shifting approaches and an expanding array of tools, what are the various ways that educators can ethically and effectively bring open pedagogical practices to their teaching? This webinar will focus on the open pedagogical tool of the “renewable assignment,” featuring faculty experiences with the employment of this strategy and how they have developed it from one semester to the next.
