Process for Requesting Special Testing

Students who are approved for testing accommodations should adhere to the following:

Students choosing to test through The Center for Access must make an appointment at least three (3) days in advance. Because this process is done by appointments only, the disabled student may not be able to take the test on the same day as the class. All efforts will be made to avoid this instance, but it cannot be guaranteed.

The instructor must get the test material, amount of time allotted to other classmates (for approved extended time purposes), and any special testing instructions to The Center for Access (Macon Cove Campus or Union Avenue Campus). This can be done by fax 901-333-4788, email ca@southwest.tn.edu or by bringing the material to The Center for Access. Instructors are also responsible for retrieving tests.

Readers or scribes for tests must also be requested through The Center for Access at least three (3) days in advance.

Students choosing to test through the Testing must schedule through the Schedule a Test/Exam link.

Students requiring special accommodations for national tests (Example: American College Test (ACT), National League for Nursing (NLN), etc.) must visit that test's website, print the appropriate request forms, and make an appointment with The Center for Access to submit request.
