POLICY MATTERS: Relocated Policies

By Tameka Perry, Esq.

Policies

Since the last Policy Matters article was published in February 2024, some policies have been relocated in the policy manual. Others were revised to reflect required changes. And, one policy was revised after passing votes at the Feb. 8 Student Success Council meeting and the Feb. 15 President’s Cabinet meeting.

The charts below show changes. As you will see, the Chief of Staff policies related to grants, fundraising, and the Southwest Foundation have been moved from Section 4 to Section 1. And, a new section has been created for Administrative Services. Policies for that area have been moved from Section 1 to Section 6 of the policy manual. Some policies will be moved from Section 4 to Section 6 soon.

The second chart shows the four policies that had more substantive updates. Three did not require a vote but one did.  It was necessary to vote to approve Student Affairs’ request to have the Dean of Students now receive complaints rather than the Advising Office. Both the Student Success Council and the President’s Cabinet agreed with the change.

As policies are updated and created, we will notify the College community through governance groups, President’s Cabinet meetings, departmental announcements, and SCOOP.
