Southwest students and employees celebrated the spirit of Southwest during the College’s first Saluqi Spirit Week. Held on Feb. 5 - 7 and 10, spirit week honored the collective commitment of students and staff to pursue and attain academic success.

The week kicked off with a pep rally event featuring prize giveaways, refreshments, music from a live DJ, a performance by the Saluqi cheer team, and a meet-and-greet with the Saluqi men’s basketball team.

Students had a social media fun day during Saluqi Spirit Day which involved posting a photo or video of themselves wearing school gear on the College’s Instagram. The male and female winner with the most likes received Apple AirPods.

Later in the week, celebrations continued with a silent party where students danced to music played by DJs through silent disco headphones.

Saluqi Spirit Week wrapped up with a tailgating party. Guests were treated to food and live music. Face painting and balloon animals were available for children in attendance. Later in the day, the crowd cheered on the Saluqi women’s and men’s basketball teams as they played games against Roane State.
