Be a Book Scholarship Sponsor
The cost for books can often be the one hurdle too many for our students to complete their education.
- Did you know that the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of our students is $879, well below the state’s average of $4,674? Many of our students are living below the poverty line.
- Did you know the cost for books can run upwards of $650 - $1,000 per semester?
Without books, students can’t graduate.
Southwest Tennessee Community College is facing a critical challenge in raising enough funds to cover the costs of books for students who are unable to afford them. Southwest has seen a significant increase in enrollment the past three years thanks to the leadership of President Tracy D. Hall and the launch of Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect last dollar scholarship programs. The need for books has never been greater.
Last year, Southwest awarded $90,000 in book scholarships. We expect the need to grow this year. Based on our current enrollment and projections, we need to raise $100,000 for the 2019-2020 academic year.
We need your support now more than ever.
Whether completing an associate degree or obtaining a certification or credential, our students desire a better life for themselves and their families. A better life for them positively impacts all of us. Right now, you have an incredible opportunity to help fulfill a student’s lifelong educational dream.
