TSBDC at Southwest Offering Dollars and Sense (Cents) Workshop to Help in Personal Finances

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at Southwest Tennessee Community College along with Cynthia Elliott, author of "ABC's That Make Cent$" is offering a free workshop to help families build wealth. The workshop will provide ways for attendees to manage their finances, enforce budgeting and saving, and set goals to building wealth. Elliott, the author and presenter, is an entrepreneur and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Tennessee. In addition, she has a MBA with a concentration in finance and previously published an article, "Cleaning up Credit Makes Loans More Attractive."

David Doyle, executive director of the TSBDC says, "Having solid personal finance skills is key to starting and successfully running your own business. This workshop will give you the tools to make that dream a reality." The workshop will be held on March 28, 6 p.m. at the Benjamin Hooks Library, 3030 Poplar Avenue.

TSBDC offers a wide array of additional comprehensive small business services that small business owners will find very valuable in the start-up, expansion, improvement and continued operation of their businesses:

  • Ongoing training seminars and workshops in small business management and organizational development to improve business practices, and managerial skills
  • Coordination / co-sponsorship of conferences
  • Technical assistance and one-on-one consultation to those starting or expanding a business
  • Assistance with financial counseling and packaging of loan 
  • Business Research, resource materials and referral services
