The theme for Welcome Week at Southwest Tennessee Community College is "My Future's So Bright."

A variety of student activities are slated for August 22-26 at Southwest campuses and centers. Kick-off of the main event will occur on Southwest's Macon Cove and Union Avenue campuses on Monday, August 22 at 11 a.m. A number of political and community leaders have been invited to join Southwest administrators, faculty and staff at both campuses in welcoming new and returning students for fall semester, and the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

There will be something for practically everyone. Good times await those who take in the Oxygen Bar on Aug. 22 at the Union Avenue Campus and on Aug. 23 at the Macon Cove Campus. A caricature artist displays his talent on Aug. 22 at the Macon Cove Campus and on Aug. 23 on the Union Avenue Campus. Test your taste buds with fruit smoothies on tap Aug. 24 at the Union Avenue Campus and on Aug. 25 at the Macon Cove Campus. Then a balloon artist will dazzle the crowd on Aug. 24 at the Macon Cove Campus and on Aug. 25 at the Union Avenue Campus. These events will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on each day. A live DJ will entertain the crowd at both campuses on Aug. 22 and Aug. 23 with light refreshments all week long. The locations at the Macon Cove Campus are under the Farris Building Breezeway and at the Union Avenue Campus under the Breezeway between the B and E buildings.

For picture lovers, a photo booth will be available at the Whitehaven Center on Aug. 22, the Millington Center on Aug. 23, the Gill Center on Aug. 24, and the Maxine A. Smith Center on Aug. 25 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Students will get the opportunity to receive a strip of six high quality color or black and white photos. It's a touch screen operation. At all campuses and centers, students will receive sunglasses along with other promotional items while learning about different career opportunities available to them at Southwest.
