The eighth-seed Southwest baseball team will play ninth-seed Roane State in a TCCAA/Region VII Tournament Play-In game at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 7 in Gallatin, Tennessee. The winner will advance to the eight-team double-elimination tournament against top-seed Dyersburg State at 4 p.m. on May 8.

The Saluqis are led by sophomore outfielder Andrew Miller, who leads the conference and has set a new Southwest single season record with 18 home runs. He is batting .305 on the season and is also the team leader with 49 runs batted in. Other top hitters for Southwest are sophomore catcher Rusber Estrada (.345 average, 8 home runs and 39 runs batted in), freshman shortstop Jacob Nobles (.323, 4 home runs and 25 runs batted in), sophomore outfielder Hank McKay (.279 average and 16 runs batted in), and freshman outfielder Ethan Stallings (.278 average, 2 home runs and 19 runs batted in).

Other probable starters for the Saluqis are sophomore designated hitter Will Hampson, sophomore first baseman Adam McDonough, freshman third baseman Dylan Smith, freshman second baseman Nate Sumner and freshman outfielder Barrett Taylor. Starting pitchers are sophomores Dillon Bonee (3 wins, 54 innings and 34 strikeouts), Jeffrey Kohl (3 wins, 63-1/3 innings and 42 strikeouts) and Houston Haag (2 wins, 51-1/3 innings and 50 strikeouts).

The tournament championship game will be on May 11 with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division 1 East Central District championship May 17-19. The district champion will advance to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series May 27-June 3 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
