Southwest To Host Inaugural TCCAA Soccer Tournament

Southwest Tennessee Community College has been chosen as the host institution for the inaugural Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) soccer tournament, to be held October 25-26 at St. George’s Independent School in Collierville.

Motlow State enters the tournament as the top seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 6-0 in the TCCAA. They will play number four seed Dyersburg State in the first semifinal match at noon on October 25. Southwest (4-2 record in the TCCAA) is the number 2 seed and will take on number 3 seed Columbia State in the second semifinal at 3 p.m. the same day.

Southwest is led by sophomore forward Caitlan Dew, the TCCAA’s top scorer with 11 goals and 22 points, and sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Savage, who leads the conference with 103 saves and ranks second with a .786 save percentage and a 1.94 goals against average.

The semifinal winners will play for the TCCAA tournament championship on October 26 at 1 p.m. The champion advances to the NJCAA Central District Tournament, November 1-2.
