COVID-19 vaccines opening to residents 65+, teachers and childcare staff

As of Wednesday, February 24, Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) will make COVID-19 vaccines available to residents who are 65 years and older, teachers and childcare staff. This next stage is Phase 1b of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination plan.

Due to weather cancellations of vaccine appointments this week and last, individuals who were registered are being automatically rescheduled for the same time slot in the following week. Those previously scheduled for vaccines will receive an email with a new appointment date.

SCHD will release limited signups for new first and second dose appointments this week. Currently, SCHD is vaccinating first responders and health care workers listed in Phases 1a1 & 1a2, funeral/mortuary workers and individuals ages 70+. Other Vaccination Providers

Veteran’s Administration: vaccinating all veterans age 65 and older at the VA Medical Center: 1030 Jefferson Avenue. Veterans must first enroll at the VA in order to receive vaccinations: https://www.va.gov/

For those who do not yet qualify and would like a vaccine:

Mayor Lee Harris and the SCHD have created a standby list called VaxQueue for those who do not yet qualify for vaccines. To register, visit: https://vaxqueue.shelbycountytn.gov/  Note: Vaccine supplies are currently limited, but those individuals who register with VaxQueue may receive COVID-19 vaccines as supplies become more abundant.
