Southwest to host first virtual town hall for legislators

Virtual Town HallPresident of Southwest Tennessee Community College, Dr. Tracy D. Hall, has invited elected officials to the College’s first virtual Town Hall – Legislative Edition. The Town Hall assembly will take place via MS Teams on Aug. 25, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Members of the Shelby County and Fayette County delegations will gather online to hear the College’s senior leaders discuss the current status of the College, priority issues for community engagement and advocating for the college.  Phase II of the College’s Back to Campus Plan will also be addressed. The state legislators and invited guests will have the opportunity to ask questions of the leadership through the Team’s chat feature.

The Town Hall comes at a critical juncture in the history of the College as it prepares for the start of fall semester during a pandemic. Although COVID-19 has presented many challenges for colleges across the nation since it erupted in March, Southwest took on the crisis as an opportunity for change, innovation and forward-thinking. Several initiatives were implemented to support the students, faculty and staff, however, the pandemic has greatly impacted the College’s enrollment.

The following Southwest leaders will address the Town Hall assembly:

  • Dr. Kendricks Hooker, Vice President of Academic Affairs
  • Jacqueline Faulkner, Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Mike Neal, Vice President of Finance and Administration
  • Anita Brackin, Associate Vice President for Workforce and Economic Development and Continuing Education
  • Sherman Greer, Executive Director of Government Relations
