Auto Zone Scholarship

Southwest scholarships are dependent upon availability of funds and may not be awarded every year.

A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application is required for all types of financial aid awarded at Southwest including scholarships. You must complete a FAFSA application even if you do not believe that you are eligible for grant programs.

Auto Zone Scholarship

Scholarships are available for tuition, fees and a $750 allowance for tools for an academic year. Scholarships may be awarded as gap scholarships or full scholarships depending on need.  The scholarship is renewable provided criteria are maintained.  This scholarship potentially offers a paid internship.  Applicants must interview and be accepted for the internship.

Criteria

  1. Full-time or part-time student
  2. Preference is given to Automotive Service Technology major
  3. Applicant must agree to work with an advisor and a coach throughout their academic career.
  4. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 for award and to maintain award in first academic year.
  5. May be enrolled in no more than one or two developmental courses
  6. Strong desire to succeed.
  7. Completed essay explaining why they should receive the scholarship
  8. Preference will be given to students receiving no other financial aid.
  9. Applicant must have received a high school diploma or a GED to be eligible.

Procedure

Submit application (opens new window) to the Southwest Tennessee Community College Financial Aid Office by March 15.
