Tennessee Promise FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid)The Tennessee Higher Education Commission/Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation has extended the Tennessee Promise FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid) filing deadline and the priority FAFSA deadline to March 1, 2021, for high school students applying for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA). The deadline for adult learners applying for the Tennessee Reconnect FAFSA scholarship has been extended to May 15, 2021.

Congratulations to Southwest students Balkees Ginem, Kiara Kimbrough, Shycuria Robertson and Melissa Scott who won a $250 book scholarship for completing their FAFSA last November. The four students were among dozens of other students who participated in the Financial Aid Office’s early completers campaign last fall. The winning names were randomly selected during an official drawing Dec. 1, 2020.

Completing the FAFSA allows students to qualify for Federal and State funds like Pell Grant, Work-Study, Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect.  In addition, FAFSA information is used to award Southwest grants and Foundation scholarships.
