Employee of the Month: Associate Director of Advising and Academic Support Ronald Claxton

SSO President Tilicia Washington presents the parking award to Ron Claxton.

Kudos to Associate Director of Advising and Academic Support Ronald Claxton, winner of the Employee of the Month award for March!

Claxton was selected and nominated by fellow employees for going above and beyond his job expectations, providing outstanding customer service, and performing distinctive achievements that impact his department.

Executive Director of Retention and Student Success Dr. Jacqueline Taylor recently spoke of Claxton's leadership in his work at the Academic Support Center and his dedication to advising students. “Ronald is the champion for the SMARTS Mentoring Program and has increased mentee participation from 24 to 540 students in two years.”

Claxton said of the award, I am very humbled and honored to be recognized by my peers.

Each nominee is reviewed by a committee representing the Professional Administrative Staff Organization (PASO) and Support Staff Organization (SSO), in conjunction with the Department of Human Resources. Award winners receive free breakfast or lunch for a week from The Taste at Southwest, a reserved parking space of choice on his/her main campus for an entire calendar month (parking restrictions may apply) and are featured in the Southwest Scoop.
