FROM THE PRESIDENT

Thank you

Dr. Tracy D. Hall

To the Class of 2020:  Congratulations on your wonderful achievement! You have persevered through late night study sessions, early morning classes, pop quizzes, final exams and COVID-19.  You have quite a story to tell! The hurdles you have faced and overcome have prepared you for the world that awaits you beyond COVID-19.  I am truly proud of you and am confident that you will emerge from this global crisis ready for your bright future.

To the faculty who taught this historic class:  thank you for not giving up. Thank you for pushing through and being there for our students.  You, too, have faced a challenge never before seen.  To move to all online instruction in a matter of days is an unimaginable feat. But, you did it and I could not be prouder to work with you or more grateful for your dedication to student success.

To the staff who packed up their offices in about a day and a half, set up home offices in kitchens, dining rooms and family rooms and kept the business of the College going: Bravo for your agility and commitment to providing the best support possible for our students and the faculty who teach them.

To the leadership team and the COVID-19 Task Force:  I know you have put in countless hours—some literally working sun up to sun down and into the night.  Thank you for your outstanding leadership, professionalism, talent, ingenuity and determination.  I stand on your shoulders as Southwest continues to shine and show the world that we can adapt without compromising our commitment to quality. We can adjust without sacrificing our commitment to equity. We can improvise without abandoning our mission to achieve the dream of greater student success.  We can move forward boldly without forsaking our compassion for those who experience acute challenges before, during and after this crisis.

We are getting through this and we are leading through this. When COVID-19 fades, we will be here: teaching, serving, leading and shining.

Thank you for what will forever and for so many reasons be an unforgettable year.

Have a safe, healthy summer.
