TBR to use multiple measures for learning support placement

TBR

In response to COVID-19, the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is piloting the use of multiple measures for learning support placement for summer and fall 2020 semesters.  This means that a student’s placement in college level courses will be based on the “best score” across multiple measures.  These measures include ACT/SAT score, Accuplacer score, SAILS completion or High School GPA (see chart below). Those students with a GPA between 2.80-3.59 will be monitored to provide additional support services should they need them during the semester.

Southwest has developed a Task Force chaired by Dr. Sherria King, Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences.  Members include representatives from both Student and Academic Affairs. This Task Force will work to develop a plan to ensure interventions are developed and in place to support both student and faculty success in the classroom.
