KUDOS: CFO Smith, Interim VP Brown and Assoc. Dean Greene tapped to serve statewide

By Diana Fedinec

Congratulations to Chief Financial Officer Jeannie Smith, Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Shanita Brown and Associate Dean of Business and Technologies Carlton Greene on their statewide appointments.

Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in October appointed Chief Financial Officer Jeannie Smith to serve as chairperson of the Business Affairs Sub Council that is comprised of chief business officers from each of TBR’s 13 community colleges and 27 Colleges of Applied Technology. Smith will collaborate with TBR staff and colleagues across the state on policy issues and other initiatives to improve campus functions and student success at Southwest and sister TBR schools. The sub-council meets quarterly to consider TBR Finance Committee recommendations. Members serve a two-year term.

Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Shanita Brown and Associate Dean of Business & Technologies Carlton Greene were selected last month to participate in the 2021-22 cohort of the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE) Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute. They join 30 other leaders from higher education, K-12 education, government, business, and nonprofit organizations to work on building leadership capacity to increase postsecondary credential attainment for students in Tennessee. The program is jointly administered by SCORE and The Hunt Institute, a nonprofit focused on research, educational partnerships and improving education policy. The participants will explore innovative solutions to higher education access, attainment, retention, completion and other challenges.

Congratulations to our senior leaders on their prestigious appointments!
